24 weeks

Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

Things are looking good minus the 8 lbs I put on last month. My OB said it looks like I had a good Thanksgiving while my Endo said he will be watching my weight very closely. Next appointment is January 9th and I will have the glucose test done. So hopefully all goes well and I don't end up with gestational diabetes.

I tried to take pics at work but had some trouble getting the camera to stay up so I'll have to try again from home later tonight.

21 weeks

So, I'm a little over halfway there. I am getting huge quickly and am now starting to worry about how big I will be towards the end of this pregnancy. So, here's a quick pic to remember my giant status at the halfway point.

Week 21: Banana
Average size: 10.5 in***, 12.7 oz

Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

We had our BIG ultrasound

And the baby is a GIRL! Yay!!! We are so excited. Jayden said he knew it was a girl, of course. We couldn't get a profile picture because she insisted on looking directly at the sonogram camera, but we got a great shot of her lower legs and how strong her bones look. Not to mention she kicking me during the ultrasound. I will try to upload the 2 short videos we have soon.

16 Weeks

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

...and the baby bump is really becoming obvious. My office building had flu shots yesterday and my doctor said it was okay if I got one. So I went up to the 10th floor and waited in line. The nurse had me sign in and started to wipe down my upper arm with alcohol. As soon as she did, she turned to me and asked, 'Are you pregnant?' She made me get a note from the doctor before she could give me the influenza shot. So I've decided I officially 'look' pregnant.

Dr's Appt Update

So everything looked good today and the heartbeat was 140. He/She was kicking and we (the Dr. & I) heard the thumps from the kicks on the doppler. My next appointment will include the BIG sonogram to find out the sex of the baby! I am so excited. So November 10th is the big day.

Updates

This blogging is completely foreign to me. I have been overwhelmed seeing a few of yours out there and how unique and personal you have made them. I need to read up on how to personalize our blog.
We've gone from lime to lemon. Odd.
Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

I am 14 weeks now! Woo hoo! Finally made it to the second trimester and I am extremely elated about this. I have my monthly appointment next Wednesday and I'm hoping to hear the heartbeat. I'm also hoping they set up an appointment for the big ultrasound so we can find out the sex of the baby before Thanksgiving. Jayden is in Houston this weekend with his dad. It makes me sad he's so far even though it's not my weekend. And he has flag football games every Saturday that he is missing today. I feel like I should head to the field to take pics, but I think it will make me sadder that he's not there.
Well, I'm off to buy a few things to make spinach dip for Laura & Brian's 80s bday party. Oh and find something 80s to wear. Procrastination is one of my very many skills.

Aiden has arrived!

My brother, Andy, and his wife, Amanda, had their baby early this morning. We got home a little while ago from visiting them. That little stinker took a dump while I was holding him and apparently it was his 6th one since he was born at 4:47 am. CRAZY! Jayden only went once in the hospital when he was born.
He was 7 lbs 15 oz & 19 in long. Here is my new nephew!

12 weeks and belly fat/bump

So a few of the girls on my club board have asked to see the pregnant bellies. I tried to explain that I am obese and my belly won't look half as cute as the skinny girl who puts her belly pics in her siggy. To prove this, I finally took pics of my nasty belly. I can tell my belly is getting a bit bigger, but know that it is mostly fat from before this pregnancy. I also thought I would share my battle wounds from having my son. I gained about 65 lbs in my first pregnancy. I started out with a flat stomach and gained the majority of that weight in the late 2nd and all of 3rd trimester. The wide stretch marks are from my sides and back. I have thin stretch marks all the way around my belly button covering my entire stomach. :( Even if I do lose the weight again, I will never wear another bikini in public because they are horrible.

11 weeks

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

We're very excited to be pregnant and hoping for a healthy and happy 9 months. I started out fine and then the morning sickness began not too long after finding out we were pregnant. We've had some concerns along the way regarding the morning sickness as well as bleeding, but everything looks good so far.
Here is the baby at 6 weeks on 8/18/08. We had an early ultrasound since I've had an ectopic pregnancy before. They needed to make sure this one wasn't in my only fallopian tube.
We probably won't have another ultrasound until around 18-20 weeks. We plan to find out at that ultrasound if we're having a boy or a girl. We already have a girl's name picked out, but are at a complete loss when it comes to boy names. All I am really concerned with at this point is making it to the second trimester without any more problems.
